Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to the best dad I know...my sweet husband.  Here he is, less than a week ago, playing "Hop on Pop" in our hotel room in Scottsdale.  The hotel was our final stop on a week-long road trip through the top half of Arizona. I'm looking forward to telling you all about it very soon -- but first, I  have to get though some remaining piles of random laundry and adjust back to my re-entry into Normal Life at Home.

Oh, and since it is Father's Day....I will also be anticipating and serving my hubby's every need.  HA.

Also, I have a longer and more personal Father's Day post about the 2 main men who influenced my life up on my other blog today.  It's also about how I came to have such a love of road trips, myself.  Check it out, here.

Come Along for the Ride

Welcome! I'm Kelly Shire, otherwise known as Roadrunner Mom.  I created this blog because I love to travel and get outta town with my family as often as logistically (and financially) possible.  As a native of Southern California, born to parents and grandparents who loved meandering Sunday drives to nowhere and summer trips in their campers, I think I've got a pretty good idea of what's out there to see and experience in my home state and the west in general.

I have 2 school-age kids, a boy and a girl, who are just as engaged and curious and excited about life as a parent could hope for, and a terrific, patient husband who is something of a homebody, but is more than willing to be dragged out on another new adventure. We live in the sprawling 'burbs of southwest Riverside county, part of the "Inland Empire" (east of L.A./Orange counties) region of SoCal.

I hope you'll hang around to hear about our latest getaways (as well as trips we've taken in the recent past), to learn specific tips and "things to know" about each destination.  Most of all, I hope you'll be inspired to plan your own trips to get yourself and your family out there, experiencing the wonders of California and the entire big beautiful world.

I'm a woman of many passions...including books and home decor and y'know...stuff. Read about them on my other blog, The Reading Nest.
